Candidates interested in joining the Volunteer Battalion must meet
the following criteria:
- Be a US Citizen or resident alien (must prove either status).
- Must be a resident of Palm Beach County
- High School Diploma, GED or better
- Must be 18 years or older of age
- Valid Florida Drivers License
- Pass character and criminal background check
- Provide physicians statement approving activities of appropriate
classification
- If you are currently or about to attend in
Fire, EMT, PMT School, we encourage you to focus your efforts
on completing your education first, then applying to the battalion.
If you do not have any certifications, the battalion does offer
a Firefighter 1 class.

- Submit your application with all supporting documentation
- Candidates who have met the requirements and submitted all complete
documentation will be interviewed by an officer or panel of officers
of the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Volunteer Battalion.
Basis for Rejection: Felony charges and/or a bad driving history
report may lead to a rejection of your application.
Volunteer members must also acquire certain clothing items such
as pants, belt, nametag and so forth. These can be obtained at Palm
Beach County Fire Rescue Central Stores or any of the police/fire
supplies stores in the county.
Members are also required to pay Association dues yearly. Detailed
information about the various classifications, minimum requirements,
dress code, etc., may be obtained at Station
42.
Points for entry to Palm Beach Community College (PBCC) or similar:
Requests for the additional point for entry to PBCC or similar institution
will only be granted after the Volunteer has been an active member,
in good standing, for a minimum of 6 months.

Driver History Report:
Applicants must not have been convicted of driving
under the influence of alcohol or control substances or, of reckless
driving in the preceding 36 month period in Florida or any other
state. Have not had a Driver’s License suspended under the
point system in the past 36 months, as provided for in Florida Statute,
Chapter 322. Have not been convicted of 3 moving violations in the
preceding 24 month period in Florida or any other state.
